Stoma and Complex Wound Care Center Opens At The Medical City Clark
The Medical City Clark will host the soft opening of its Stoma and Complex Wound Care Center tomorrow, the first and only in Central Luzon, to cater to the increasing number of patients with stoma and complex wound problems in the region. The event will be at 10 a.m. today to be attended by TMC Clark’s medical and non-medical staff and patient guests.
The Center has a reception area and two separate rooms – a room for stoma care patients and another room for wound care patients. An adjacent room is also provided for patients who will enroll in its Home Care Program.
The Center is staffed by highly competent medical staff and nurses who specialize and are well-trained in the field of stoma and wound care. The Stoma and Wound Care nurse provides pre-operative counseling to patients who will undergo a colorectal surgery that will require a stoma creation, stoma sitting for patients, and patients and family education on the proper care of the stoma especially in the home setting. The Stoma and Wound Care nurse, in coordination with the Multidisciplinary Team, likewise educate the patients on probable complications that may arise in the future, how to handle such situations, and when to get in touch with their attending physician.
An advanced training course on Stoma and Wound Care nursing is being coordinated with The Medical City-Main in Ortigas, Pasig to further enhance the skills and knowledge of the health team.
